Ryan Howroyd from Sydney, Australia, picked up the Eagles' nomination.
"Winning the International Fan of the Year is quite honestly the most insane thing that's ever happened to me. It's such an honor," Howroyd stated in an article that appeared on the Philadelphia Eagles website. "After pouring so much time, effort, and love into this team over the last few years, this means absolutely everything to me."
Howroyd said his support for the Eagles took flight during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. He used his extra time inside his home to tune into NFL broadcasts. Howroyd took a liking to the Eagles squad and has remained a loyal fan since then.
But Howroyd's affinity for the Eagles goes beyond the game of football. He's also held a charity livestream during Super Bowl Week on Twitch to raise money to support the Eagles Autism Foundation.
"I just love this team. If a game starts at 4 a.m., I'm up at 3 o'clock, making sure I'm ready for work so I can sit down, watch the game, get on the train to work, and continue watching," Howroyd said. "Game is done? Perfect. Time to download podcast episodes to listen to while I'm working for a recap. The early morning games were great when my daughter was born because I'd sit up with her and feed her as we watched the games in the early hours of the morning."
During the weekend of April 26 and 27, Howroyd got an intimate glimpse of NFL action by attending the NFL Draft in Green Bay, along with thousands of other NFL superfans.
"The thing I'm most excited about when it comes to the Draft is getting to experience the NFL fandom in a completely different way than I have before," Howroyd said in advance of the Draft.
