If you're looking for a day-trip destination for the train enthusiasts, young and old, in your family, take a drive to Lancaster County's Strasburg Rail Road. From June 19 to 22, Thomas the Tank Engine will return to offer rides for his fans. This year will mark the 30th year that Thomas the Tank Engine has been present at Strasburg Rail Road.
Train rides will be available every hour, on the hour, throughout the day, and will last 30 minutes. All guests will be taken on a tour across the Lancaster County countryside. According to a FOX 43 News report, the first train departs at 9:45 a.m., and the last train leaves at 1:45 p.m. The railroad's regular trains will also operate for rides.
“We have Percy for photo-ops. We have Sir Topham Hat for photo-ops and the miniature trains as well,” said Eric Hoerner, chairman and board president of the Strasburg Rail Road.
Additional Thomas-themed activities will include live music performances on the town square stage. Children will also be able to visit the Thomas tent, located adjacent to the train tracks, for Thomas-themed toys and other items. Activities will include face painting, a ring toss, and sing-along songs for kids.
After his June jaunt, Thomas will return to Strasburg Rail Road in September.
