New Jersey Millennium Skate World Celebrates 25th Anniversary

A roller skating rink in Camden, New Jersey, is marking its 25th year of service to the community this year. To commemorate this milestone, Millennium Skate World, at 1900 Carman St., minutes from the Benjamin Franklin and Walt Whitman bridges, is offering several low-cost roller skating sessions and community programs this summer.

"We are very affordable. We have special family days. [It's] only $6 admission, and then the skate rental is $5," said Millennium Skate World's general manager Tracy Medley to CBS News Philadelphia.

Millennium's weekly programs include day camp sessions, public skating, and late-night adult skating sessions every Wednesday from 9pm-1:30am.

In partnership with the city, Millennium Skate World also offers a free skating day for Camden residents once every month. Police officers and Mayor Victor Carstarphen distribute "golden tickets" — free admission passes awarded to children who perform works of service for their community.

The indoor skating rink will mark its 25th anniversary on Dec. 14 with a special city-wide celebration. More details will be announced on the rink's website.
