The star of the new Superman film picked Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts over his own character to run Philly's unstoppable short-yardage tush push play.
"I'd say Jalen Hurts," said David Corenswet, who plays Superman in the new movie, per AL.com. "I expect that there's a lot more technique and organization involved in the mechanics and success of the tush push than meets the eye, so to speak, and I think Superman, he'd just end up tripping over his feet or something."
Since 2022, the play has worked like magic. The Eagles convert it 87% of the time, with Hurts punching in 33 scores from close range. NFL teams tried to outlaw it, but the ban fell two votes short in 2025.
In 2025, Hurts led Philly to its second title by crushing the Kansas City Chiefs. He put the Chiefs away early, scoring 40 points before the third quarter ended to win Super Bowl MVP.
The play works like this: two or three players stack up tight behind Hurts and push ahead when the ball snaps. In 2024, it worked 35 times out of 42 tries - an 83% success rate that left defenses stunned.
Corenswet's Superman began showing in theaters on July 11, 2025. The box office trackers at Deadline predict a $210 million global start. Meanwhile, the Eagles will open training camp on July 22 and start their title defense against the Dallas Cowboys on September 4.
