On Thursday, July 24, The Philadelphia Orchestra will perform a special concert, "A Championship Season," to honor the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl LIX victory. This performance will take place at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m.
The Philadelphia Orchestra Conductor Anthony Parnther will direct the orchestra through video highlights of the Eagles' season while orchestra members perform live music from NFL Films. A portion of the event's proceeds will support the Mann Center's free arts education initiative and the Eagles Autism Foundation.
"I think this is a great alignment of wonderful values and inspiration. It's just great to see everybody come together and celebrate music and athleticism," Parnther said in a media statement. "The orchestra and the football team aren't so different. It's a bunch of people who have specific responsibilities coming together to achieve something greater than the individual. So there's a lot of crossover between the two."
"Only in Philadelphia do orchestral music and professional football come together in a way that feels distinctly 'Philly' — a reflection of this city's passion for both our arts and sports," the Mann's president and CEO Catherine M. Cahill said in a statement. "The Eagles and The Philadelphia Orchestra each represent the pride, excellence, and spirit that define Philly, and this one-of-a-kind evening at the Mann celebrates all of it."
