In its rankings of the top 20 small-town destinations in the United States, SIXT named Cape May No. 2 on its list of 20 places to visit.
SIXT used the list of the top 55 small towns in America from Architectural Digest (where Cape May is ranked fourth out of 55) and narrowed this list down to the top 25, comparing population size, walkability, noise levels and the number of local businesses using data current from June 27.
With its population of only 2,757 people, a noise level of 65 decibels (considered to be moderate), and 800 local businesses, the beach town ranked high for providing a slower, seaside escape, according to SIXT.
Locals appreciate Cape May's dynamic offerings, including the beachfront and downtown by Washington Street Mall to Cape May Point's natural areas and the Cape May Court House. Beautiful Victorian homes provide interest for lovers of architecture. Outdoor enthusiasts appreciate the diverse activities available, including railbiking, pedaling along decommissioned railroad tracks, viewing murals at The Garett Family Preserve, visiting parks, and exploring the Cape May County Park & Zoo.
