PennDOT has announced several construction projects impacting Delaware County highways and roads during the week of Aug. 25.
Construction on the Blue Route
PennDOT contractors will close lanes on sections of I-476 in both directions between the Interstate 76 and Interstate 95 interchanges to perform bridge and guiderail repair, line striping, milling, and paving. This work will begin at 8 p.m. and conclude at 5 a.m. the following morning each night through Friday, Aug. 29.
Lane closures will also take place through Friday, Sept. 2, on the following roadways so that PennDOT can perform improvements to its Intelligent Transportation Systems:
- Both directions between the Rogers Lane overpass and the U.S. 1 interchange (exit 5)
- Northbound between the U.S. 1 interchange (exit 5) and the Springfield Road overpass
- Northbound I-476 ramp to Baltimore Pike (exit 3)
- Northbound ramp to Baltimore Pike (exit 3)
- Northbound and southbound ramps to U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue)
- Southbound between the Marple Road overpass and the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) interchange
- Southbound between the U.S. 1 interchange (exit 5) and the Beatty Road overpass
- Southbound ramp to Route 3 (West Chester Pike)
- U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) ramp to northbound I-476
- U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) ramps to northbound and southbound I-476
- U.S. 30 West (Lancaster Avenue) between Route 320 (Sproul Road) and the I-476 overpass
Several projects will involve extended timelines. They include the following:
Lansdowne Avenue Corridor
A safety improvement project on Lansdowne Avenue running now through spring 2026 will involve upgrades at the following intersections:
- Baily Road
- Baltimore Avenue
- Essex Avenue
- Greenwood Avenue
- Marshall Road
- Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital
- Plumstead Avenue
- Providence Road
- Stewart Avenue
U.S. 1 Project
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., now through early November, a weekday lane closure in both directions will take place between the Kennett Oxford Bypass and Greenwood Road for roadway widening and improvements in East Marlborough and Kennett townships.
