Every November 11th, Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs come alive with heartfelt Veterans Day celebrations honoring the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. This year, the city hosts an array of events designed for veterans, their families, and the community to come together in appreciation and remembrance.

The highlight in Philadelphia is the 11th Annual Veterans Parade and Festival, taking place on Sunday, November 9, 2025. This proud tradition begins at noon at 21st Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, winding past the iconic Philadelphia Art Museum and concluding at Eakins Oval. The parade marches alongside more than 7,000 participants, including veterans, military-friendly businesses, and community organizations. Grand Marshal Ralph Galati, a decorated Air Force veteran and former POW, leads the procession in a tribute that celebrates strength and service. Following the parade, a free, family-friendly festival runs until 4 p.m., featuring live music, food trucks, information booths about veteran services, job opportunities, and educational resources.

Surrounding suburbs also offer meaningful ways to commemorate the day. For example, the Museum of the American Revolution presents a Veterans Day Weekend event from November 8 to 11 with special programs to honor veterans and educate families about American military history. Other nearby communities like Doylestown and Willow Grove host commemorations, masses, and appreciation breakfasts to recognize local veterans' contributions. Eastern State Penitentiary, the nation’s most historic prison, which dates back to before the American Civil War, also honors Veterans Day with special programming included with admission. Philadelphia's Veterans Day events extend beyond festivities; they provide valuable access to supportive resources for veterans, including healthcare benefits, financial assistance, and workshops to ease transitions into civilian life.

Whether you join the lively parade march, attend a festival, or participate in a suburban commemoration, Veterans Day 2025 in Philadelphia and its suburbs offers numerous meaningful ways to say "thank you" to those who served our nation.
