Allentown will ring in the new year with a first-ever drone light show. Hundreds of drones choreographed by StarFlight Drone Shows will illuminate the sky over Seventh and Hamilton streets at midnight, according to The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce shared with WFMZ-TV 69 News.
A highlight of the celebration will be the world's largest puck drop, presented by the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, as part of the festivities.
The program will run from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., featuring DJ sets, a drone display, and a countdown to midnight.
During the festivities, downtown Allentown restaurants and venues will offer special dinners, live entertainment, and champagne toasts. Seventh Street will be closed from Linden to Walnut streets until 1 a.m.
The Downtown Allentown New Year's Eve Celebration is free to attend. It is organized by the Allentown Chamber of Commerce and Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Allentown and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, with sponsorship from multiple local businesses and organizations.
“This celebration captures everything that makes Allentown special with innovation and community togetherness,” said Brittney Ciardi, senior vice president of the Allentown Chamber of Commerce, in the release. “We wanted to create something that feels both cutting-edge and true to our traditions. The combination of the drone show and the puck drop will make this a night people remember long after the countdown.”
