Hundreds of people gathered outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center to share their food on a large scale.

The anticipation is part of Recipe Philly, an upcoming Center City restaurant and docuseries in which locals will first create community-designed dishes and then produce them commercially in the kitchen. Video footage will be gathered for use in a future reality television show.

A select handful of hopefuls will have their recipes featured on the restaurant's menu when it opens in May 2026.

According to Axios Philadelphia, winners will receive $1,000 and have their names and photos appear on the menu next to their dishes. Individuals also eat for free at the restaurant for as long as their dish is available on the menu.

"People that just wanted to get their recipes out there. We are going to take those recipes and produce them commercially in the kitchen. We're going to open up the restaurant in May. We have no idea what we're going to serve yet," said the series's founder and creator, Ed Baumstein, to Action News 6.

According to Axios Philadelphia, Baumstein has enlisted the help of some culinary professionals to execute his vision, including chef and partner Andy Revella. Revella has helped develop menus at restaurants like Bennigan's and Rainforest Cafe.

Applications are open through December 2025. Submission details are available online.
