The Free Library of Philadelphia is hosting several culinary literacy programs over the next two weeks. Members of the public are invited to hone their cooking knowledge through the following programs:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 25, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Edible Alphabet: Learn English Through Cooking! (Online). Adults are invited to participate in this free cooking class for English language learners. Each week, participants learn to read, write, and converse in English while cooking a meal together via Zoom. Registration is available through the library's website.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 2, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Edible Alphabet: Learn English Through Cooking! (Online). Adults are invited to participate in this free cooking class for English language learners. Each week, participants learn to read, write, and converse in English while cooking a meal together via Zoom. Registration is available through the library's website.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 3, 3:30 p.m.: Cooking for Teens: Cookie Decoration and Hot Chocolate. The Field Teen Center at the Parkway Central Library, 1901 Vine St., invites teens ages 12 to 18 to drop by the library to decorate holiday cookies and enjoy hot chocolate.   • Thursday, Dec. 4, 2 p.m.: Thursday Cooking Classes With Chef Char. Join Chef Char for this latest installment in a series of eight plant-based cooking classes and discover how to prepare some simple soups, salads, and more using fresh vegetables. This program will be held at the South Philadelphia Library, located at 1700 S. Broad St.
