Several of this year's Golden Globe nominees, including performances and productions, are putting the Philadelphia region in the spotlight. The Golden Globe Awards announced on Monday, Dec. 8, its nominees for the best in television and movies.
In its fifth season, Abbott Elementary has already earned three Golden Globes. The series, which stars Philly-native Quinta Brunson, has been nominated again for best musical or comedy television series.
HBO's Task and Peacock's Long Bright River have leading actors nominated for Golden Globes this season. In Task, Mark Ruffalo starts as an FBI investigator tracking down thieves in drug houses in Delco. Liz Moore's crime novel Long Bright River details the story of a Kensington police officer, portrayed by Amanda Seyfried, who searches for her sister in a struggle with a killer targeting sex workers.
Philly stand-up icon Kevin Hart was honored with a new comedy special, Kevin Hart: Acting My Age. He earned a nomination for best stand-up comedy performance on television.
This year, the Golden Globes have debuted a best podcast category. Bucks County native Alex Cooper is nominated for her show Call Her Daddy.
Jeremy Allen White stars in the latest Bruce Springsteen biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, and is nominated for best actor in a dramatic film. That production was almost entirely filmed in New Jersey, including Cape May and parts of South Jersey.
Although actress Hannah Einbinder, who screamed “Go Birds!” during her speech after winning an Emmy for best supporting actress in a comedy series, is not from Philadelphia, she loosely has connections to the Philly region. Her dad, actor Chad Einbinder, is from Doylestown. HBO's Hacks, which focuses on a veteran Las Vegas comic mentoring a young comedy writer, is nominated for best musical or comedy television series. Einbinder was also nominated for best supporting female actor.
The Golden Globes will be broadcast live on Jan. 11, 2026, at 8 p.m. on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
