Cape May County has been recognized by Travel and Tour World as one of America's fastest-growing travel destinations. The county joins a select group of five U.S. counties identified as emerging tourism hotspots.

“The county is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the United States, charming Victorian architecture, and a thriving arts scene. Visitors flock to the area for its laid-back atmosphere and historical significance. Cape May is not just a place to relax; it's a destination for learning, adventure, and exploration,” according to Travel and Tour World.

In 2024, Cape May County welcomed more than 12 million visitors who generated approximately $8.1 billion in direct tourism spending, along with $23 million in occupancy taxes and $668.5 million in state and local taxes, according to CapeMayNJDaily.com.

County officials note that tourism growth supports local businesses, jobs, and investments, and helps fund a broad slate of events that enhance the visitor experience through authentic, meaningful travel. Leaders said that coastal beauty, history, and hospitality are core attractions, with ongoing efforts to preserve open space and farmland to sustain the area's charm.

The county offers a diverse mix of beaches, Victorian streets, woodlands, environmental adventures, rural escapes, arts festivals, and four-season events that appeal to travelers seeking authentic experiences.

Travel Trade Today's comparison places Cape May County alongside iconic U.S. destinations like the Florida Keys in Monroe County, Florida; Ulster County, New York; and the Great Smoky Mountains in Sevier County, Tennessee.
