According to Action News 6abc, the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) oversees 160 red-light cameras at 38 city locations.
The PPA notes in a statement shared with FOX29 Philadelphia that the red light camera program has reduced light-running violations by 58% and has collected more than $20 million in fines. Approximately half of the fines collected are being reinvested in safety improvements in the Philadelphia area.
Action News 6abc also reported that in fiscal year 2024, red light camera tickets contributed $23 million to the PennDOT Transportation Enhancements Grant Program.
