Broadway’s most talked‑about musical comedy is headed to Philadelphia. Ensemble Arts Philly and The Shubert Organization will present the Philadelphia premiere of Shucked — the Tony Award®‑winning musical hailed by The Wall Street Journal as “flat out hilarious” — at the Forrest Theatre from April 21 through May 3, 2026.
Described as a “farm‑to‑fable” musical, Shucked centers on a tight‑knit community with an unwavering obsession with corn. But as Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations, explains, the show goes far beyond laughs. It’s a heartfelt story filled with love, sacrifice, hope, grace, and personal growth — all delivered with sharp humor and infectious energy.
The creative team behind Shucked reads like a Broadway and Nashville dream lineup. The musical features a “superb” book by Tony Award winner Robert Horn, with a score packed with catchy, crowd‑pleasing songs by Grammy Award winners Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. Known for writing hits for artists such as Kacey Musgraves, Reba McEntire, and Miranda Lambert, the duo brings their country‑music storytelling to the Broadway stage. Direction comes from four‑time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien, praised for infusing the show with warmth and joy.
The cast includes Miki Abraham as Lulu, Nick Bailey as Beau, Mike Nappi — a Doylestown native — as Peanut, Quinn VanAntwerp as Gordy, and Danielle Wade as Maizy, alongside a large ensemble of accomplished performers. The production also boasts an award‑winning design team overseeing choreography, music direction, scenic design, costumes, lighting, sound, wigs, and casting.
Fans can also enjoy the Grammy Award‑nominated Shucked Original Broadway Cast Recording, available on all streaming platforms and CD.
Tickets are available through ensembleartsphilly.org, Telecharge.com, and the Forrest Theatre box office. An American Sign Language‑interpreted performance will take place on Thursday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.
Funny, warm, and irresistibly entertaining, Shucked is set to be one of Philadelphia’s must‑see theater events of the spring.
