AARP Pennsylvania, in partnership with the AARP Fraud Watch Network, United Way of Bucks County HELP Center, and the Bucks-Mont Collaborative, is hosting a free document shredding event to help Bucks County residents reduce their risk of identity theft.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the United Way of Bucks County HELP Center, 194 Commerce Circle, in Bristol.

While walk-ins are welcome, attendees are encouraged to register online. Each participant may bring up to three bags or boxes of documents. Staples and paper clips can stay on the items. Credit cards can be shredded as well.

“The AARP Fraud Watch Network empowers people to protect themselves and their loved ones from scams and identity theft,” said Yocasta Lora, AARP Pennsylvania associate state director of advocacy and community engagement, in a statement shared with the Bucks County Beacon.

This shredding event is part of the AARP's broader fraud-prevention efforts. Nationwide, in 2025, approximately 141.5 million adults were targets for identity theft. The FTC logged about 3 million fraud-related reports with nearly $15.9 billion in losses, according to the Bucks County Beacon.

Common identity-theft risks come from improperly discarded items such as old bank statements, medical records, tax documents, and credit card offers.
