Wawa has announced it will open a new store in Kennett Square at 806 Baltimore Pike on Thursday, April 9. A grand opening party will take place before sunrise, with the doors officially opening at 8 a.m.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. will cap off the celebration, which will feature a “Hoagies for Heroes” competition among first responders to benefit local charities.

According to MyChesCo, the first 100 customers will receive free “Wawa Grand Opening Tour” T-shirts. Everyone can enjoy free, any-size hot coffee available through April 12.

The new location is expected to boost the local economy, employing about 35 people. It also engaged several local contractors during its construction.

“As our nation celebrates its 250th birthday in 2026, we're proud to be a company with more than 200 years in American business,” said Wawa President Brian Schaller in a statement shared with MyChesCo. “Our ongoing growth allows us to invest in and provide meaningful support to more communities and create new opportunities.”

Wawa's opening in Kennett Square is part of a broader 2026 plan to add nearly 100 new stores across 14 states, reinforcing its community-focused growth strategy.
