Major Tawny Cowan-Zanders discussed how COVID has affected the Salvation Army’s services to families and the community. This year, with so many out of work then need is greater, yet because of COVID 19 restrictions, many fundraising opportunities were lost. She noted that the Salvation Army programming continues throughout the lockdown, pivoting to virtual or one-on-one services. She described the food deliveries and wellness checks for seniors, educational programs for children and their counseling services. The Major asked listeners to donate to their Save Christmas fund through online and text giving, and through electronic pay plans at Red Kettle sites.
