The 2024 Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival is back for the Year of the Dragon! Located in Franklin Square, take a visit to see over 35 amazing lantern displays. Not only is it beautiful to walk around and take in the magic, but they also have interactive displays as well as live performances going on throughout the festival. Families and people of all ages will have fun exploring the festival. They have mini golf, a carousel, food, drinks, and even a Lotus Cocktail Garden. Enjoy this amazing walk-through light experience and try to find all the hidden gems. This was my third year going and I made sure not to miss it!

Here Are My 5 Must-See 2024 Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival Displays!

  • Galahs and Trumpet Vines

This interactive display lets your voice become the birds’! Speak into the tree trunks and listen as your voice broadcasts throughout! Stay and watch as the birds’ heads move back and forth and listen to all the jungle noise. Take in all the beauty this lantern jungle has to hold.

This MASSIVE dragon is wrapped around a beautiful, teal Temple. Watch closely as the dragon head moves back and forth and even breathes smoke too! Walk around every side of it to truly see how large this is in person. My jaw was on the floor as I was taking in how beautiful it truly is.

  • Kaleidoscope

Definitely wait for nighttime to hit to truly experience the Kaleidoscope. Walking into that little box is so fun- it feels like you’re walking into a portal! Every picture will turn out differently too, as the background is constantly moving in funky patterns that resemble being inside a kaleidoscope. As you can see, I couldn’t help myself from dancing like it was a club!

  • Sunflower Savanna

Step into this beautiful walkway full of enormous flowers and bright giraffes! This walkthrough was my personal favorite. Just look at the flowers all along the celinigns and the beautiful greenery to add just a touch of realism. Make sure you find the other walkthroughs like the cranes, lanterns and lily pads!

  • Dancing Dragon

Now, it wouldn’t be the Year of the Dragon if they didn’t include the classic, Dancing Dragon. It spans from 164 feet long to 21 feet high. It has over 70 individual pieces that make up this one lantern.
