I want to send a BIG congratulations to the big boss of the Beasley Media Group in the Philadelphia market and my good buddy, the great Joe Bell!
He leads all the amazing radio brands in the greater Philadelphia market under Beasley, including the station I do my midday show for, WMGK, as well as 93.3 WMMR, 97.5 The Fanatic, 92.5 XTU, 99.5 WJBR in Wilmington, Delaware!
Joe is celebrating 50 years in radio, which is wild when you actually think about how long that is in this industry.
To put that into perspective, back when Joe started in radio, gas was $1.16 a gallon, and now we all know how high those prices can get!
I am sure the prices of eggs and chicken wings were a lot cheaper back then as well!
Speaking of food, the Beasley Media Group Philadelphia family held a huge surprise celebration in our big kitchen for Joe on Friday!
There were a ton of people from all the different stations there to greet Joe, and it was an awesome time.
There was tons of food, including pizza, BBQ, salad, and plenty of desserts!
Funnily enough, I was actually asked to record an intro for Joe similar to what I do for the Philadelphia 76ers introductions during my gig as public address announcer!
The intro highlighted his long career with a few jokes inserted into the mix as well!
Joe then gave a great speech about his 50 years in the business and said how much he appreciates being able to finish his career in Philadelphia with all of us.
He joked that landing here made all the tough jobs he had along the way all worth it because he thinks this is the best group of radio stations in the country.
That is always good to hear from your boss!
Once again, congrats Joe on an amazing career thus far!
