Plunge2

This past weekend, I visited a favorite getaway destination for many in the greater Philadelphia area.

I know some of you are wondering why I might have been down the shore over a long weekend in February of all months.

The dead of winter.

Well, if you did not know, it was SIC’s Annual Polar Bear Plunge!

As always, it was a super fun time and a great experience!

I think I have been plunging since around 2010, and every year gets better and better.

I went into the actual ocean on 92nd Street with my buddy Dennis and his kids!

The water temperature this year was a brisk 40 degrees, but, luckily, it was sunny outside and the air temperature was 41 degrees.

So it was not too cold compared to some years past, but it will definitely wake you up once you go under!

After we all warmed up from the plunge, we hit up a plunge party at the Oar House later that night.

The place was absolutely packed!

But as always, they were prepared with a ton of pop-up outdoor tents to supply the right atmosphere for the party!

If the rest of the bars were as fun as the Oar House was I am sure everyone down the shore this weekend had a blast!

The plunge was not the only event going on this past weekend down in Sea Isle City, though.

There was also a 5K run and one-mile fun walk sponsored by Mike’s Seafood that took place!

It went down JFK Boulevard and the promenade and the goal of it was to raise money and awareness for autism, which is something I really appreciate.

Altogether, it was a very successful weekend down the shore and one I enjoyed a lot!

I can’t wait to get back down there when the weather is warmer in the summer now!
