Paul Kelly

Paul Kelly has been with WMGK since March 2019.  As the designated hitter/6th man, Paul has been rocking Philly’s classic rock faithful every weekend, every holiday, and every time of day as needed, Monday through Friday.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Paul’s passion for Radio dates back to his grade school days, and he frequently visited the current studios after school for studio tours, station swag, and glimpses of the adored air personalities.

“This has been a dream come true for me!  Rocking in the very building I visited on my bike as a kid.  It’s been amazing joining the staff of personalities I grew up listening to – (Matt Cord, Tony Harris, John DeBella, Debbi Calton, Andre Gardner).”

Paul brings his love of music through the speakers with shared experiences with Philly radio listeners from his first concert experience – Billy Squier/Queen in July 1982 at the Philadelphia Spectrum, and meeting Queen’s Brian May to LIVE AID at JFK, to numerous other concerts throughout the city’s best venues.

In July 1989, Paul’s on-air career began at WZXL/Atlantic City, hosting weekend overnights.  From then, through 1994, he also handled duties as Imaging/Production Director and Morning Show Producer.

From December 1994 to March 1996, Paul hosted mornings in the Wilkes-Barre–Scranton market on Classic Rock 97.9 The Mountain, before moving to ROCK 107/WEZX-Scranton as the afternoon drive host from March 1996 through October 2000. He then became Program Director and afternoon drive host at Classic Rock 101.5 WPDH in Poughkeepsie, NY, from October 2000 to August 2001, when Philadelphia-based Kelly Music Research, Inc. named him Vice President/Operations Manager.

Currently, he is also involved with his family’s 501c3 non-profit organization – Kelly Music For Life.  Since 2012, as a founding member alongside his brother/Radio veteran Tom Kelly, the organization has been producing Music Festivals with Crafter Villages, Park Concerts, Dance Events and Art Exhibitions to benefit the community. The Kelly Center in Havertown, PA, offers exciting programming, including music genres such as Blues, Folk, Rock, Celtic, Comedy, Bluegrass, Open Jams, and more.

Kelly Music for Life serves Haverford Township and surrounding communities through its network of strategic partners, local community leadership, sponsors, the music industry, performers, local businesses, and regional media outlets. Its events and fundraising festivals, concerts, and music programs help to fund grants for the benefit of music education, child development, senior citizens, and many community initiatives.
