Frampton Comes To The Bookshelf
Peter Frampton is planning to take pen to paper to write something other than songs soon.
Frampton tells Pitch.com that he plans to begin working on a memoir later this year, chronicling his life and a musical career that began as a member of the group The Herd in 1996 and continued through Humble Pie as well as his own storied solo career.
Frampton says that, “I think I’m going to start doing (a book) after the summer is over. I don’t know how long it’s going to take, but there’s too many stories. It’s the funny things — I mean, even out of bad things, you laugh. You find it funny when you think about it afterward. There’s a lot of humor.”
Frampton adds that he’s aware the music memoir market has “cooled down” but he’s still anxious to give it a go, and he cites the tone of actor David Niven‘s autobiography Moon Is A Balloon as something he’d like to emulate in his own prose.
Frampton is currently on the road with the Steve Miller Band through mid-August and he tells us the pairing has more than lived up to his expectations:
“We’re talking about someone I’ve been friends with since I was 20 years old. We go back a long way, played many shows together over the years. We did a couple of shows a couple of years ago, a couple of amphitheaters, and loved it, and Steve said, ‘We’ve got to do a whole tour’ and I said, ‘I’m ready,’ so here it is. Here’s this year. I’m just thrilled.”
