Queen’s 40th Anniversary of ‘News Of The World’ Out Now
Queen is spreading the News Of The World once again today (November 17).
The group is releasing a special box set to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the album that included hit tandem of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions,” as well as favorites such as “Sheer Heart Attack,” “Spread Your Wings” and “Get Down, Make Love.” Additional features include two discs of demos, alternate takes, radio edits and live radio performances, along with a DVD featuring the documentary Queen: The American Dream.
Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor were heavily involved in putting the set together, and Taylor tells us that immersing themselves into Queen’s past makes them appreciate the longevity of the music they created:
“Things seem to go in waves — you’re in, you’re out, you’re up, you’re down, you’re cresting, you’re nothing. It’s great. I think Brian and I feel deeply honored and lucky that our music seems to have some kind of longevity, seems to have transcended the decades in some way. I marvel. It’s an incredible position to be in, to be a little part of the wallpaper. But it’s good. We feel very gratified.”
News Of The World, Queen’s sixth album, was Top 5 in both the U.S. and the U.K. and went four times platinum on these shores. May and Taylor continue to work in Queen + Adam Lambert, which toured this year.
