Peter Frampton Reissuing ‘Fingerprints’ Album
Peter Frampton is putting his fingerprint on the music world again.
The guitarist will re-release his Grammy Award-winning 2006 album Fingerprints on January 26 via his Phoenix Phonograph label, making it available for the first time on vinyl. The set won the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album and featured guest appearances by Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts and former Stones bassist on the track “Cornerstones,” Pearl Jam members Mike McCready and Matt Cameron on “Blowin’ Smoke” and original Shadows members Hank Marvin and Brian Bennett on “My Cup Of Tea.”
The Pearl Jam members also played on Frampton’s Grammy Award-nominated version of Soundgarden‘s “Black Hole Sun,” a song that has deeper meaning for Frampton since Chris Cornell‘s death in May:
“With Chris, I didn’t expect that at all. And I emailed with Matt Cameron…through him I got to play with Chris, with Chris’ solo band…and did ‘Black Hole Sun’ with him, and we played my instrumental version, half of that, and then we went into the real thing and that was probably another ‘I’ll never forget that’ moment. That was a very special time for me because it’s still, it’s always about the music for me, and when a song or music or writing of a certain other musician hits you, it hits you, and when you actually get to meet these people and not only meet them but play with them…”
Frampton recently released a standalone single, “I Saved A Bird Today,” and is working on more new material.
