As 2018 is coming to a close, it’s looking like one of the potentially biggest stories heading into 2019 could be the reunion of the original Van Halen lineup, which means bassist Michael Anthony would be back in the fold.

Nothing has been made official yet, but the latest buzz surrounding this rumor comes via Eddie Trunk, who himself said nothing has been confirmed but says the latest he’s heard involves “some sort of stadium package.”

Eddie Trunk on Recent Van Halen Reunion of Original Lineup and Tour in 2019 News (12/22/2018) Eddie Trunk comments on the recent news and rumors of Van Halen reuniting with the lineup of David Lee Roth, Michael Anthony, and Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen. Of course, this quote harkens back to a David Lee Roth interview from a couple weeks ago with Vulture where DLR mentioned,  “…You know, next time my rock band will be playing the same place that the Yankees play.” He then ended up divulging, “Well, I don’t know how far this privacy actually goes. But the band is solvent. And I can say that I contacted colleagues about being part of the show — Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Jason Aldean, the Foo Fighters, [Eric] Church, and [Chris] Stapleton. And they all said that, if everything happens, they would certainly be involved.”

Once again, nothing has been confirmed, but this is definitely a story to watch heading into the New Year.
