Like many other musicians within the past 12 months, Lou Gramm has announced his retirement from touring, but he has good reasons for saying goodbye to the road life.

Gramm opened up about his retirement in an interview with WXXI and said, “When I left Foreigner in 2003, I put together my own band and I’ve been playing with various versions of that band, on and off, I decided that I’ve been doing this for over 45 years, and we have a little one at home, and I wanted to spend time at home with [my wife] Robyn, and my baby girl’s name is Luciana…[She’s] a year and three months. She’s a little redhead and she’s feisty and sweet and so much fun to be around.”

Despite his lengthy career, Gramm said his decision to retire from touring wasn’t as difficult as he’d anticipated saying, “I thought it would be, but I’ve talked to some professionals in sports, and they tell me that they knew when it was time. And it wasn’t because their skills were diminished. They just knew it was time to change courses.”

Gramm made it clear, however, that he isn’t completely done with performing. citing doing shows with Foreigner here and there and performing in various guest vocalist roles.  He also mentioned studio work and revisiting unfinished song ideas and releasing them as digital EPs.

Basically, Gramm is still going to be very busy, but just won’t be as active in past years.
