Queen’s Roger Taylor Has Some Choice Words for Critics of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’
Bohemian Rhapsody was a massive commercial success, but it wasn’t very well-received by critics, and Queen’s Roger Taylor has two words for those critics: ‘F— you.’
Taylor’s frank answer came in a recent interview with Planet Rock where he spoke about some of the poor reviews of the film saying, “There were some decent reviews, but there were many that were kinda sneering and superficial. I thought, ‘You just don’t get it, do you? You weren’t moved, and whatever, but f— you actually. F— you all the way to the bank, actually.'”
That “all the way to the bank” turn of phrase is really appropriate considering Bohemian Rhapsody grossed a whopping $900 million worldwide.
Taylor continued, “But bad reviews usually mean that it’s going to be really successful. I think people know a lot more than film critics, and the word of mouth via social media is so much more powerful than a review from a guy who probably watches 40 movies a week, and has probably lost the essence of the joy of a movie.”
Of course, Bohemian Rhapsody wasn’t without critical success. It managed to win four Academy Awards, with actor Rami Malek winning Best Actor for his performance as Freddie Mercury.
