Billie Joe Armstrong surprised both the patrons and the cover band at a bar over the weekend when he joined the band on stage to perform a Green Day song.

The Green Day YouTube channel shared video from the surprise performance. The video is titled, “When you walk into a pub and the cover band starts playing your song.

The cover band, which is named Borderline Toxic, shared video of the performance via Instagram. They captioned the clip, “The moment your band gets joined on stage by your childhood idol to sing their own song with you… in your favorite dive bar!!” The band added, “Billie Joe Armstrong, thank you, you legend! This was the first band to get me into rock when I was 11 years old and I’m honestly just so made up. BRB crying/screaming/spewing.”

Louder Sound notes this performance took place at Slim Jim’s Liquor Store in north London. The stage at Slim Jim’s is certainly smaller than Armstrong is used to these days. The venue notes the stage dimensions being “4’9″ feet depth x 9’5″ feet width + 5’5″ feet extension.”
