VIDEO: Alice Cooper’s “The Sound Of A”
Alice Cooper has released a video for his new single, “The Sound Of A” — a song he wrote during 1967, the first he ever wrote by himself.
The track closes the veteran shock rocker’s latest album, Paranormal, and was unearthed by original Cooper band bassist Dennis Dunaway, who receives a co-writing credit on the new version and plays on it and two other tracks from the album.
The video for the trippy song, which bears a likeness to classic Pink Floyd, features a variety of faces — including Cooper’s own — sporting his trademark face paint, singing the song with many tight closeups on their mouths.
“The Sound Of A” will be released as a physical single on February 23, backed by four previously unreleased live tracks from a May 6 Cooper show in Columbus, Ohio. Dunaway and other original Cooper bandmates Mike Bruce and Neal Smith all appear on the Paranormal track “Rats” as well.
Cooper launches his A Paranormal Evening With Alice Cooper tour on March 1 in Windsor, Ont., with dates currently running through March 29.
