The “Electrified” Exhibit Highlights Electric Factory Concerts
Over the last few months, if you have been keeping up with my posts, I have written a good amount about my buddy, Larry Magid. Larry is an absolute legend in the music world, especially in the city of Philadelphia.
Over the weekend, I paid a visit to the campus of Drexel University and went to a special VIP opening of a new exhibit that is honoring my friend, none other than the great, Larry Magid!
The exhibit is called “Electrified” and it highlights 50 years of the Electric Factory. It is just a tremendous tribute to Larry, and the humongous impact his Philadelphia-based company, “Electric Factory Concerts,” had on Philly and American culture dating all the way back to the ‘60s to the present day!
The exhibit itself is located at the Paul Peck Alumni Center Gallery and Bossone Research Center on campus over at Drexel. It is a really neat three-floor layout of all the artifacts and history of Electric Factory Concerts.
Some of the photos from over the years are absolutely insane and take you right back to some great musical moments in the city of Philadelphia. Plus, there are countless instruments signed by some of the biggest legends in music history.
The exhibit honoring Larry Magid and Electric Factory Concerts will be open to the public from September 21st through December 31st. I highly suggest you check it out if you are a music lover.
I know a ton of music lovers like myself, Bill Weston, Kevin Gunn, and a host of other people who were on hand for the VIP opening over the weekend left very impressed.
In his opening speech, Larry Magid said something along the lines of, “I wish my mom was still around, so I could tell her I got into Drexel!” It was hilarious!
The exhibit is free to the public and open Wednesday through Saturday!
See you there!

The Top 19 Moments of MGK Big Gig 2023
There are just four days left in the summer — at least officially according to the calendar that says the last day of the season is September 23rd. For some people, summer unofficially ends after Labor Day Weekend, but for me, my summer unofficially ended with a bang over the weekend at MGK Big Gig 2023!
On Sunday, we had yet another successful MGK Big Gig, and it might have been the best one yet! From the live broadcasts to hanging with fans, to the performances by the legendary musical guests, it was definitely a day to remember!
The live performances included Uncle Kracker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and ZZ-Top, and they were the perfect acts to have taken the stage on a Sunday in the late summer.
Tony Harris, Andre Gardner, and then Steve Vassalotti and I all broadcasted live throughout the day. Of course, I have to send a huge shout-out to all of you who stopped by our broadcast booth on the Walt Whitman side of the Freedom Mortgage Pavillion!
Then, Steve and I were lucky enough to get to go on stage in between Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ-Top, and it was a thrill to look out into the crowd and see so many loyal WMGK listeners in attendance! We even got to get on the microphone and say hello to the MGK Big Gig crowd!
Below I will share some of my favorite moments I captured throughout the day and post some pictures and videos for you all to relive the day if you were there, or see it from my perspective if you were unable to make it this year!
Somehow, each year the MGK Big Gig continues to get better and better, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for next year’s show. I know it will be amazing!
