How come everywhere I go today, everyone is dressed in green?

Oh, that’s right!

It is St. Patrick’s Day!

Every St. Patty’s Day that comes by it makes me remember a few years back at a Sixers game, either on this exact day or right around it.

Franklin, the Philadelphia 76ers mascot, who is a big blue dog that is usually dressed in his Sixers’ uniform, jersey, shorts, and all, was dressed in something a little bit more festive that day!

He was dressed in a green onesie!

One that resembled what Will Ferrell wore as he played Buddy the elf in the Christmas-classic film, Elf!

But have no doubts, it was definitely a St. Patty’s Days onesie because right behind him was an assistant dressed in a vest that was the same color green, a leprechaun hat, and a big fake red beard that only a guy who knew where to find the hidden gold at the end of the rainbow would have on his face!

The reason I remember this night so vividly is because Franklin actually brought my niece, Lily, onto the court that night!

During one of the timeout breaks, Franklin took Lily onto the hardwood floor and let her help with the t-shirt toss that night to give some lucky fans in attendance a chance to go home with a Sixers shirt!

If they could catch one that is!

Together, Franklin helped Lily shoot some shirts with the t-shirt gun into the crowd!

And if you have ever been there, you know how far that thing can shoot a shirt!

She looked like she was having so much fun, and I was so happy for her!

So it is definitely one of the first things that come to mind when I think of St. Patrick’s Day!

Do any of you have some fun memories of this day?
