In honor of International Left-Handers Day, I went internet shopping and found some left-handed gifts. I couldn’t believe some of the items that exist for lefties! I am a lefty so you would think I would know, but the joke is on me.

What It Is Being Left-Handed

I have been left-handed since birth. Even though the world average puts lefties at 10% of the population, we are four for four on lefties at my house. I always wondered if because the parents set a left-handed example, the kids were more likely to be left-handed. Having said that, I’m the only lefty on my side of the family.

I spent a day as a child teaching myself how to use right-handed scissors because at that time the left-handed scissors all sucked. You couldn’t cut butter with them and they were very small.

School desks! ARG! The right-handed school desks were a definite no-go for me. I had to look around for left-handed desks or use a straight-forward desk that was good for right and left.

Once I had my desk, I would smear my hand through everything I wrote. By the end of the day, I had a number two pencil lead covering the bottom side of my hand starting at my pinkie and continuing down the side of my hand.

Don’t even get me started on the right-handed notebooks. If you are right-handed, you probably never noticed these things. As a lefty, it was just the way things were.

Today’s Left-Handed Gadgets

Today there are so many more options for lefties… also known as southpaws. Many of the same things I just complained about, notebooks, scissors and more are now available in a left-handed model.

When I was searching for left-handed gifts, I came across items that I didn’t know existed. Did you know there’s a left-handed tape measurer? Spoons? All kinds of good stuff! Scroll down and check it out!

9 Left-Handed Gifts That Are Right For South Paws

  • "Favorite Left Handed People" - Left Handed T-Shirt

Puff Puff South Paws…  this shirt let’s people know that your fellow left-handers are O.G. ballers. Available in ten different colors and an insane amount of sizes. I recommend choosing one of the heather colors since they’re a 65/35 polyester/cotton blend.  The blends tend to be the softer shirts.

  • Logitech Lift Vertical Ergonomic Mouse

Did you know there is such a thing as a left-handed mouse? Right? I mean left! There are cheaper left-handed mouse options available but I chose this Logitech mouse because it “promotes a more natural posture in the forearm, for day-long comfort and productivity.”And it’s ergo-certified. • 6 Pack Small Left Handed Notebook 8"x5"

I chose this 6-pack since it’s a bit more cost effective.  IT feels like left-handed stuff is always more pricey. During my high school days, I would have loved to have had left-handed notebooks. Cramming my hand in and trying to get past the spiral hump of right-handed notebooks made my already lousy handwriting look even worse… I mean more creative. These books come in five different color-themes which is cool, but the price varies slightly depending on which color you choose.

  • Lefty's True Left-Handed Playing Cards

Again, I am blown away.  I had no idea there were left-handed playing cards. I grew up playing cards with my family. I don’t think being left-handed ever held me back. I did find it intriguing though because I wanted to know what makes the cards left-handed? According to the description, “Suits printed on opposite corners so a lefty can fan in right hand, seeing the numbers in the corners, and then play cards with left.” The only drawback on these is that a right-handed person can’t see the number corners if they fan in their left-hand.

  • Lefty's Left-handed Bamboo Utensil Kitchen Tool Set

This makes sense, but I never knew. This is a “set of left-handed bamboo kitchen tools including a 14″ Slotted Spatula, 14-1/2″ Pot-Sitter, 15″ Wok Tool, and 13″ Stir Spoon.” I’ve never had the pleasure of using left-handed utensils, but I love the idea. It’s crazy how many things are experienced differently depending on whether you are right or left-handed.
