8 Classic “Dog” Songs For Chinese New Year
Happy Chinese New Year! Since 2018 is the year of the dog, we thought we’d have a little fun and fetch some of our favorite “dog” songs for your listening pleasure.
(Get it? Dog…fetch? Fine! They can’t all be winners!)
Anyway, here are eight “Dog” songs in honor of Chinese New Year.
Elvis Presley – “Hound Dog”
Originally by Big Mama Thornton, the most popular cover is easily Presley’s, and it’s easily one of the best covers of all time.
David Bowie – “Diamond Dogs”
A glam epic that swaggers and grooves. As if we needed another reason to miss Bowie!
Three Dog Night – “Joy To The World”
Okay, not a “dog” song, but it’s Three Dog Night, and “Joy To The World” is a classic.
Nazareth – “Hair of the Dog”
Nazareth’s biggest hit might be “Love Hurts,” but some of us think this is the band’s best song.

Led Zeppelin – “Black Dog”
Any “dog” song list without this Zeppelin classic is just incomplete.
Marvin Gaye – “I’ll Be Doggone”
This would become Gaye’s first number-one single. The fact that Smokey Robinson was one of the songwriters and produced the track might have something to do with that.
The Pretenders – “Jealous Dogs”
A deep cut off the band’s Pretenders II album, but it’s a good one.
Faces – “You Can Make Me Dance, Sing or Anything (Even Take the Dog for a Walk, Mend a Fuse, Fold Away the Ironing Board, or Any Other Domestic Shortcomings)”
Sure, you may not have realized just how long the title of this Faces song was, but any excuse to add a Faces song to any playlist is a good excuse.
