Marijuana Lounges Approved By Las Vegas City Council
Las Vegas is obviously a destination city, and thanks to its city council, yet another activity can be added to Vegas’ lists of attractions.
Per the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Las Vegas City Council approved marijuana lounges in a 4-1 vote. The state of Nevada voted to legalize the recreational use of marijuana in 2016.
Of course, there are plenty of rules and regulations that will come with the newly approved marijuana lounges. To enter a lounge, you must be at least 21 years old. Also, lounges aren’t allowed to “provide, sell, distribute or store” any marijuana. Visitors must bring their own weed, however, lounges are, allowed to sell and distribute paraphernalia.
In addition to those rules, marijuana lounges must also be 1,000 feet from schools or casinos and 300 feet from churches and other protected institutions. Marijuana use won’t be permitted in public view, like a patio space, and for the first 12 months of lounges being allowed to operate, only dispensaries licensed in Las Vegas will be allowed to open lounges.
At the time of publishing, there’s no confirmation when marijuana lounges will be allowed to open, but when they do, they will undoubtedly be a success and popular with locals and tourists alike.
