Alex Trebek Gives Update On His Health And Fight With Pancreatic Cancer
Alex Trebek is giving Jeopardy! fans an update on his fight with pancreatic cancer.
The good news: He’s successfully hit the one-year mark. The host says, “The one-year survival rate for stage 4 pancreatic cancer patients is 18 percent. I’m happy to report that I have just reached that marker.” He adds, “I’d be lying if I said that the journey had been an easy one. There were some good days, but a lot of not so good days.”
He goes on to explain how hard chemo treatments have been, how he has moments of great pain, and he even shared that on some days, certain bodily functions don’t cooperate.
Alex also reveals that throughout this journey, he’s dealt with depression. He explains that there were “…sudden massive attacks of great depression that made me wonder if it really was worth fighting on.”
He goes into detail on why he chose to continue fighting and why he will continue to move forward even if the two-year survival rate is only seven percent. Watch Alex’s message below.
