It's always an interesting thing when a super popular regional establishment decides to expand outside of its homebase. Now, Pennsylvania-founded Sheetz is making big moves and expanding its popular made-to-order sandwich shop into a new aera. I have to say that I know a few people from the Keystone State who absolutely love this spot, and I know they're pumped to see it coming to different areas of the country.

Pennsylvania's Sheetz is Expanding in a Major Way

Sheetz recently announced that it would be opening its first location in Michigan, and now, they're actually planning to expand a lot more in the Great Lakes State. It's not just going to be a one-off thing. Sheetz has announced they they plan to open an impressive 50 to 60 Michigan locations over the next decade, with the majority of the locations being in the Metro Detroit area.

Sheetz is a gas station chain founded in Pennsylvania. It's famous for its popular convenience stores with made-to-order sandwiches and other food items, groceries and more.

The first Sheetz Michigan location is already being built in Romulus at 33380 Wick Road. The location is on target to open by the end of this summer.

Sheetz also plans to open additional Detroit-area stores at the following addresses:

8200 Telegraph Road in Taylor
20623 Eureka Road in Taylor
45011 Garfield Road in Macomb
31925 Van Dyke Avenue in Warren
Middlebelt just north of I-94 in Romulus
23 Mile east of I-94 in Chesterfield

These new Sheetz stores should help the local economy, too, as each will have around 30 employees. Most of those will be full-time employees, too.

"Michigan is the first new state for Sheetz in two decades and we cannot wait for people to experience this first store, and everything our company has to offer," Travis Sheetz, President and CEO, said. "We look forward to creating great jobs for Detroit-area residents, providing total customer focus for our community members, and being a good neighbor that is actively involved in every neighborhood our stores will serve."

Sheetz is already a big name around the country. They currently have more than 720 stores in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland. They also employ 25,000 people. All Sheetz locations are open 24/7, 365, and that's what you can expect from the new Michigan locations. While Sheetz will always call Pennsylvania home, it's great to see this Keystone State-born brand branch out. We can't keep this magic all to ourselves.
