CDC Now Says The Coronavirus Can Spread On Shoes And Travel 13 Feet
There is so much conflicting information circling on how coronavirus spreads on surfaces, how it travels, and how far people should social distance from others. The latest info from CDC has updated some of the facts that have been circulating, and they suggest that COVID-19 is spreading more than previously thought.
Per the New York Post, the CDC now feels that the virus spreads further than previously estimated. According to a new report, “The aerosol distribution characteristics … indicate that the transmission distance of [COVID-19] might be 4 m.” That translates to over 13 feet.
They also add that shoes can carry the virus. They explain, “Furthermore, half of the samples from the soles of the ICU medical staff shoes tested positive,’ the researchers wrote of samples taken at Huoshenshan Hospital in Wuhan… Therefore, the soles of medical staff shoes might function as carriers.”
They add that this is why stringent disinfecting measures are important, especially on surfaces frequently touched, like computer keyboards, trash cans, and bed rails.
