Billy Idol to be Honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Can you imagine what it would be like to have your name forever immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?
Your name is written across a big star on the ground surrounded by other big stars with some of the most significant and legendary entertainers to ever walk this earth also enshrined on them.
The big, bright, brass stars take up over 15 blocks on Hollywood Boulevard and three more blocks on Vine Street in Hollywood, California for all the tourists to see!
Whether we are talking about music artists, actors and actresses, politicians – and yes, even fictional cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse and Woody Woodpecker – some of the most well-known people the world has ever seen are listed on the Walk of Fame.
Well Billy Idol, the ’80s rock and roll icon, no longer has to imagine that feeling!
Idol will be the first person of 2023 to be honored with a star on the Walk of Fame!
If any of our loyal WMGK listeners just happen to be in Hollywood this week, Idol will be honored tomorrow, January 5th, right in front of Amoeba Records on Hollywood Boulevard.
Wait, speaking of Amoeba Records, can we talk about how cool it is that vinyl records are coming back in style?!
Anyway, for all the loyal WMGK listeners that are back in the greater Philadelphia area but are still interested in watching the ceremony, you can stream it tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. right here!
Idol’s celebration will feature speeches from Henry Rollins, the lead vocalist of Black Flag, and Shepard Fairey, an artist and skateboarder.
Idol will actually be the 2,743rd star inducted into the Walk of Fame!
I wonder who he will be next to on the walk.
Marky Mark Wahlberg?! Weird Al Yankovic?! The Beach Boys?!
Who knows!
But I do know that back in 1990, Billy Idol was right next to me and my cousin Bob – back when I had my full head of hair – backstage at a show in the legendary Madison Square Garden!
Check out the picture above!
Anyway, congratulations to Billy Idol on an amazing achievement!
What more, more, more could you ask for in a career?!
