February 24th 9:00 AM

3. Pat Benatar

Throughout the month of February, 102.9 WMGK will count down the 20 greatest classic rock singers decided by our listener vote.

We’ll dedicate daily blocks to one singer who’s made the list every weekday throughout the month.

MGK will celebrate Pat Benatar on Friday, Feb. 24.

Benatar exploded when In the Heat of the Night came out in 1979 featuring “Heartbreaker” as its biggest hit.

She continued her rise during the 1980s to become one of the premier female rock singers in history. She was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Performance in nine of 10 years from 1981-1990, winning four times with “Crimes of Passion,” “Fire and Ice,” “Shadows of the Night,” and “Love is a Battlefield.”

Her husband Neil Giraldo has performed with her at points since their marriage in 1983. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November 2022.

Pat’s career has earned her the #3 spot on the list in 2023.

How Pat Benatar's Daughters Became More Famous Than Her

Pat Benatar was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Nov. 5 at the ceremony in Los Angeles, CA.

She turned back the clock a few decades with an incredible performance on stage alongside her husband Neil Giraldo. Benatar sang some of her most popular hits like “Love is a Battlefield” and “Heartbreker” to celebrate her illustrious career.

Benatar and Giraldo have been married for 40 years, and they now have two children and two grandchildren. They will even release the new musical Invincible in a few weeks.

How did the daughters of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo become more famous than their celebrity rocker parents? They stormed the scene of 21st century pop culture in ways that didn’t exist when Benatar and Giraldo entered the public eye.

  • Hana Giraldo

Hana Giraldo appeared on Relatively Famous, a reality tv show about people who grew up with famous parents who get placed together in humble surroundings.

The 28-year-old claimed to have written her parents’ first three songs in the show’s promo.

Relatively Famous shows young and growing personalities “hoping to prove to themselves, their parents, and the world that they are more than their last names.”

The children of actor Billy Bob Thornton, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, actor Martin Lawrence, and wrestling Hall of Famer Billy Gunn appeared in the first season with Hana Giraldo.

  • Haley Giraldo

Hana wasn’t the first daughter to hit the reality tv scene. Her older sister Haley appeared on Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive in 2005. She remains in the public eye 17 years later as a social influencer with a major presence on Instagram.
