My Buddy John DeBella Will Introduce Joan Jett on Stage Tonight
I love rock n’ roll, I am sure all of our loyal listeners here at WMGK love rock n’ roll, and one rockstar who is in town tonight sure as hell loves rock n’ roll — and she might very well be the one who made that phrase known worldwide!
The one, the only, Joan Jett is set to take the stage tonight at the Wells Fargo Center along with Bryan Adams, and none other than our very own John DeBella will be the MC on stage for the show.
Matt Cord and Joan Jett in 2018.
Funnily enough, the very first person John introduced on stage was Joan Jett all the way back in the late ‘70s when he worked at WLiR in Long Island, New York.
Later on, WLiR became WDRE where I used to work when I first started my radio career.
The show where JDB did the first introduction of his career took place at the legendary club in Roslyn, New York, called My Father’s Place.
It is quite an amazing place to catch a show if you are ever up that way.
But tonight, it all comes full circle.
Every great thing must come to an end, and after 41 years in radio, John is hanging up his headphones at the end of the month.
John has one of the most legendary careers in radio history and has been welcomed into the lives of a whole lot of people throughout the greater Philadelphia area for a number of years with all of you great listeners.
Not only that, but he has contributed a ton of charitable work to the community with events such as the John DeBella Dog Walk and his Radiothon.
But just like his first introduction, tonight it all comes back around as JDB will be introducing Joan Jett again, in what could be the last MC gig of his radio career!

I’m sure the show will be great!
Scattered throughout the article are pictures of me and Joan throughout the years!
Just two people that love rock n’ roll!
If you are going to the show tonight, enjoy it!

Behind The Scenes Working The Taylor Swift Philadelphia Concert
What a Show!
Over the weekend, a few concerts took place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday down at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philly.
It was a tiny artist that not too many people know about, and there definitely were not close to 100,000 people in and outside the stadium enjoying each show.
And by that, I mean the BIGGEST artist in the world currently and there were absolutely that many people surrounding the Linc and in their seats enjoying the show!
Yes, Taylor Swift was in town over the weekend and it was quite the spectacle!
I was actually in attendance for the show on Saturday night with my niece, Lily!
She is actually a part of the event staff for all of the Eagles games and also works a few select concerts taking place at the Linc!
And you know she was not going to miss Taylor!
I got to walk in the tunnel with her and clock in and then it was right to her post at the Pepsi Plaza!
Lily was super helpful to all the concertgoers assisting plenty of Swifties to their seats and giving them guidance throughout the stadium!
The event itself was incredible!
I got to see the merch first hand that people were lining up by the hundreds for on Thursday — a full day and a half before any of the shows even started!
Taylor put on an amazing show for all the people that were fortunate enough to be in the building and even thousands more outside who just wanted to hear their favorite artist sing.
If you haven’t seen the videos by now, thousands upon thousands of Taylor Swift die-hard fans surrounded the stadium singing their favorite songs and enjoying the show from outside!
I have never seen anything like that in all my years in the music industry!
Overall, I had an amazing time with Lily and I’m glad she got to work one of the shows!
