Today is National Sour Candy Day. Some people love the pucker that sour candy gives them. Others don't need that extra step to get to the sweetness that these candies also provide. Let's run through a list of the most popular sour candies in the United States. This ranking is determined by general sales for each candy, so as you can imagine if it's found in a quick stop or convenience store it's probably high on this list.

1. Sour Brite Crawlers

Trolli is on the verge of having a monopoly on the sour candy industry. When my 3-year-old was talking about sour worms last night before bed (which is funny because he has no idea that today is Sour Candy Day) you know they've made the right choices in both the bright color of the worms and the flavors.

2. Sour Gold-Bears Gummi Candy

Haribo is the King of the Gummi Bear. The only logical step after reaching the peak of the gummi bear mountain is to attempt a 2nd climb with the original gummy bear dipped in a citric acid-type sugar coating. Pro tip: Haribo Gummi Bears are even better if you leave the bag open and let them "marinate", or get a bit hard.

3. Sour Patch Kids

Tried and true. Can't go wrong when you grab a bag of Sour Patch Kids. You can apparently order and customize bogs for yourself depending on the flavors you like best. The best thing they've done in a while with Sour Patch Kids is added the blue raspberry flavor. I like to save all the blue ones for last. That's not weird, right?

4. Airheads Extremes

I grew up on Airheads, but they hadn't figured out the correct sour science then. We used to shake them as if they were sugar packets and they would start to move towards the end you weren't holding. They would eventually become a big ball-like shape, which totally wasn't a choking hazard. I loved Airheads as a kid. Now my kids love them. Sidebar: My oldest's baseball team gets to choose a snack after each game, and if the kids choose airheads as their snack they are given five of them in a rubber band! I'm sorry Airheads, but 5 ropes of sugar are too much.

5. SweeTarts Chewy Sours

The name of these is a bit redundant since tart and sour are in the same ballpark. I guess the thinking is when your original candy already gives the people a bit of a pucker face, then you need to let them know that you're stepping the game up a bit.

There are so many sour candies out there, but these seem to be at the top of the list everywhere you look. You're mouth definitely started to water at some point reading this article. It seems like companies will make a sour version of any of their big sellers. Is there a candy that it would be wrong to make sour?

Visit These 18 Chocolate Shops for All Your Sweet Needs

This is the time of year when our springtime thoughts turn to chocolate. These little bits of joy are stuffed into Easter baskets, make a great Passover dessert, and are exchanged as gifts.

No other treat brings the elation of a chocolate delight.

Chain store bunnies and wrapped chocolates serves the kids well. For the more sophisticated tastes; we’ve searched for the more intricate chocolate shops in the Delaware Valley.

The chocolate bunnies we know and love today originally were created in Germany in the mid 19th century. Piece, Love, and Chocolate explains that chocolatiers saw the idea of rewarding those who abstained from pleasures such as chocolate during Lent with chocolate eggs and bunnies. Then in 1890, Robert Strohecker, a Pennsylvania shop owner, became known as the "father of the chocolate Easter bunny", after displaying a five foot high chocolate bunny in his shop. After that, chocolate Easter bunny sales took off and today over ninety million chocolate Easter bunnies are produced every year.

So if you're wondering where are chocolate shops near me that carry these delicious treats, here’s our list. Order early and enjoy!
