My Favorite Wawa In Philadelphia Sadly Closed Down Last Week
All good things must come to a close, but that does not mean the memories won’t last forever, or that anyone has to be happy about it. After all, I know I will look back on this place and miss it, even if there are thousands of other places just like it all around the greater Philadelphia area.
This is a place that was always there at the most convenient times. In fact, I could rely on it pretty much all twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week – even on holidays if needed. It is a place where I experienced a couple of “firsts” in my life that I have gone on to continue for years whenever the time is right.
If you have not guessed by now, I am talking about Wawa, and more specifically, the Wawa that I have been going to for over 25 years located at 2nd and Lombard in Headhouse Square that closed its doors for good on July 16th.
I have probably bought over 2,000 cups of coffee, too many newspapers to count (if anyone on here still remembers what a newspaper is!), and countless hoagies! In fact, I have been going to that Wawa for so long that I remember when you used to pick out your hoagie roll in a bin and give it to the deli clerk to make your sandwich.
This was also the Wawa that introduced me to the pumpkin spice and holiday blend coffee, which is my favorite that only comes around during the winter holiday season, so I will always be grateful for that!
I walked by the other day, and the doors are covered in signs that declare the Wawa officially closed and there are a bunch of trash bins outside.
But at the end of the day, even a Wawa that is no longer open is still better than a Sheetz!
Who knows what will take over the old spot, but I know I am hoping for a Snap Pizza!
