Tommy Stinson and Cowboys In The Campfire Are Incredible Live
Having a successful career as a musical artist for just a handful of years is impressive enough and very commendable, but having one that spans the course of multiple decades, albums, bands, and projects is near impossible – Unless you are like my dear friend Tommy Stinson!
I want to send a huge congratulations to my buddy Tommy Stinson and his new musical project, Cowboys In The Campfire! They hit the road last week, beginning a 14-stop tour in support of their album titled, “Wronger.”
We actually caught Tommy Stinson and Cowboys In The Campfire on their third stop of the tour on Friday night. The show took place in Lambertville, New Jersey, on September 8th, at a venue called More Than Q, and it was highly entertaining!
Tommy Stinson and his bandmates, Chops LaConte, the upright bass guitarist, and Chip Roberts, guitarist and the husband of former WMGK DJ, Debbi Calton, dress up in matching shirts and deliver a very cool country, western, and rockabilly vibe!
I have actually been watching Tommy sing solo since he formed Bash & Pop – a band that I named, which I am extremely proud of – and his voice has never sounded better! You have to hear it for yourself in person, but I have some videos throughout this post to hear it digitally!
Plus, Chip is one of the best guitar players you will ever see – his slide guitar is legendary – and Chops on his stand-up bass adds so much to the trio! They are a great group of musicians, for sure!
If you did not know, Tommy Stinson is a founding member of The Replacements, and played bass in Guns N’ Roses for 17 years as well as playing bass in Soul Asylum! Like I said in the intro, that’s a hell of a career!
If you have the opportunity to catch Tommy Stinson and Cowboys In The Campfire on this tour, I highly recommend that you do! Check out the remaining dates right here!

Delaware Beaches Are Nice Change Up From The Jersey Shore
Over the last week, I did a lot of fun things while away from the WMGK studio. As I wrote about yesterday, I was down the shore for a bit in New Jersey and had a great meal over at Twisties Tavern on the Bay. However, the Jersey Shore was not the only place I visited on vacation.
The other place I went definitely some similarities to the Jersey Shore, like, sharing the same ocean and all, but there are also some cool differences at this place. If you have not guessed by now, I also hit up Rehoboth and Dewey this week!
I love the Delaware beach towns and overall there is a totally different feel to them than that of the Jersey Shore towns – but don’t get me wrong, I love both and each has their own unique characteristics about them!
While there, we took a nice 30-mile bike ride around Lewes, Cape Henlopen Park, North Shore, Rehoboth Beach, and Dewey Beach. Myself, Pattyann, Marisa Magnatta, plus her husband and my friend, Matt Lindenmuth, all had a great time on the ride!
We also went out for a boat ride on the Indian River Inlet to Paradise Beach Bar and then had a bite to eat at Dewey Beer Co. By the way, Matt is one of the main brewers there and has a deep knowledge of beers. Plus, he has a pretty good basketball hat game, like myself, so I scored a couple of cool Dewey Beer snapbacks. I was stoked!
Overall, I had an amazing time down at the Delaware Beaches!
As I said, I am definitely a Jersey Shore guy, but the Delaware Beaches are a nice change up from my normal summer routine! There are definitely a lot more options as far as retail goes, and more Wawas, so who could complain about that? Also, I can’t forget to mention that they are a lot more bicycle friendly.
I can’t wait to head back down again to see what’s in store next!
