Where Rockers Landed Among Highest-Grossing Tours of 2024
Sure, Taylor Swift made an obscene amount of money (again) in 2024, but plenty of rockers also had big tour returns this year.
Pollstar did a rundown of the top worldwide touring artists and the top North American touring artists. Among the top worldwide touring artists in 2024, Coldplay was the second highest-grossing touring act making $421.7 million. Also among the top 10 worldwide touring artists were Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band in fifth ($251.9 million), The Rolling Stones in sixth ($235 million), and Metallica in ninth ($179.3 million).
When it came to the top artists who toured North America in 2024, The Rolling Stones topped that list and was the only rock act in the top 10. However, fans will likely see Metallica rank in the top 10 on this list in 2025 thanks to their upcoming North American tour.
Announced in September, this batch of dates is a continuation of the band’s M72 world tour. So far, the tour features seven cities that will have “No Repeat Weekend” shows with two separate concerts with two different sets and two different opening acts. Those cities are: Toronto; Nashville; Columbus, OH; Philadelphia; Tampa, FL; Santa Clara, CA; and Denver. The May 9 and 11 dates in Columbus are headlining sets at the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival.
As for the opening acts, Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies will open for one show, and Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills will open for the other.
This new batch of tour dates also features seven “One Night Only” stops. The cities for those stops are: Las Vegas; Syracuse, NY; Blacksburg, VA; Landover, MD; Charlotte; Atlanta; and Houston. The April 12 show in Las Vegas is a headlining set at the Sick New World Festival, while the other “One Night Only” shows are standard one-off headlining gigs.
