Mermaid Festival Swims Into Camden’s Adventure Aquarium
The Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey is set to make a splash with its annual mermaid festival, held Fridays through Sundays, now through March 16, 2025.
During the Mermaid Festival, visitors will watch as these creatures from folklore dive into the aquarium’s 550,000-gallon Shark Realm exhibit, home to a sandbar, nurse shark, and sand tiger. Guests can capture their own selfies through the exhibit’s movie-screen-sized window.
The aquarium’s Stingray Beach Club provides the setting for cownose and southern stingrays. Visitors will witness mermaids wading above the surface as they sing to and greet guests. Aquarium staff will set up a meet-and-greet and photo-op spot for guests on a clamshell throne.
“This festival is truly one-of-a-kind, bringing to life the magic of mermaids — something you usually only encounter in movies or storybooks,” said Melissa Patterson, Adventure Aquarium events manager, in a news release shared with Philly Voice.
Given the anticipated increase in visitation for this popular event, the aquarium will host extended hours on Saturdays and Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations are recommended.
