ACCT Philly Urges Community To Stay Safe After Dog Attack
Residents in the Wissinoming and Tacony neighborhoods of Philadelphia are on high alert after a video surfaced of a pack of dogs attacking and killing a cat on a Philadelphia home’s porch.
According to an NBC News10 Philadelphia report, a doorbell camera caught footage of the dogs chasing the cat onto the porch of a home on Carver Street in the Wissanoming section of Northeast Philadelphia before 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24. The dogs attacked and then killed the cat, as the video showed.
Residents of the area said the cat was a much-loved neighborhood stray, and the dogs likely have owners.
Action News 6 of Philadelphia contacted Animal Care and Control (ACCT) for comment. Officials said they sent officers to the area to look for the pack of dogs.
“The top concern here is public safety,” said Sarah Barnett, executive director of ACCT Philly. “Now they’ve killed another animal, and you don’t want that to escalate to children, adults, or any human.”
Barnett is asking anyone who spots the dogs or knows the owners to contact ACCT Philly so they can catch the animals.
