Philadelphia will honor the legacy of the late filmmaker David Lynch by holding a street festival in his old neighborhood. The inaugural Eraserhood Fest will be held on Friday, May 2, between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. at 10th and Wood Streets in Callowhill.

According to a report by the Philly Voice, Eraserhood Fest will center around Lynch's work. It will include live performances, food trucks, art exhibits, artisans, and merchandise vendors.

Lynch lived in the Callowhill area during the late 1960s while attending the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He later acknowledged his time in Philadelphia as having a significant creative influence on his work. Even though some of his comments about the area came off as criticisms at times.

Lynch used an industrial setting that resembled Callowhill as the setting for his 1977 feature film debut "Eraserhead." Lynch's fans later referred to the Callowhill area as "Eraserhood."

Lynch passed away on Jan. 16 at 78, leaving a film legacy that includes "Twin Peaks," "Mulholland Drive," and "Blue Velvet."

Although few details have been shared about the event, Eraserhood Fest organizers have said they would implement "pedestrian-friendly" closures on Wood Street and "interactive experiences." More information will be announced on the festival's website.
