Are Chris Evans’ Days Of Captain America Coming To An End?
Chris Evans has extended his contract with Marvel because of Infinity War, but we’re getting the impression he’s done playing Captain America after that.
What is hilarious is Evans’ recount of when he started playing the Cap, and the fact that he wanted it to fail, selfishly. He told the Telegraph the following:
“One of my biggest fears was that the movies were going to be good….Because if things worked out, I’d have to do all six of them. And at the time, that was the most terrifying aspect of it. That it was going to be so dominating, all-encompassing.”
After playing Johnny Storm AKA Human Torch in the Fantastic Four set up, he turned down playing Captain America 3 times but Marvel was insistent, and after years of playing the Star-Spangled Hero, he will be at the road’s end in 2019.
Though the Telegraph article talks more about Evans’ other move, Gifted, which will release in the UK on June 16, it’s amazing to think that after Infinity War that Cap may be no more. So does that mean that he has the potential to die at the hand of Thanos? Or that he will ride off into the sunset with his brown leather jacket on his motorcycle at the end of The Avengers? Hard to say. But the ambiguousness of the situation leaves us open to any sort of fandom theories we can cook up until 2019.
