Jon Hamm to Star in Reboot of ‘Fletch’
Jon Hamm will star in a film reboot of Fletch.
Per Miramax, Hamm will also serve as a producer on the film along with his manager Connie Tavel. Greg Mottola, best known for directing 2007’s Superbad, has been tapped as the film’s director. Zev Borrow, best known for his work on Fox’s TV reboot of Lethal Weapon, will serve as the film’s screenwriter.
Originally a popular series of mystery novels released int he 1970s, Fletch was famously adapted into two films, 1985’s Fletch and 1989’s Fletch Lives, both starring Chevy Chase as the titular character.
In a statement, Miramax CEO Bill Block said, “Fletch’s duration over audiences- whether told on paper or the big screen- entertains every type of audience and we could not be more thrilled to see what twenty-first century twist these artists create.”
Producer Tavel also said, “Producing this film with Jon has been a long-time dream of mine and with Zev and Greg on board to write and direct, I really believe that this will be an exciting and modern reimagining of this beloved character.”
Currently, there is no estimated release schedule for the Fletch reboot
